Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photojournalist and journalist, who has covered wars as well as natural disasters for over 45 years. She focuses on the plight of those in these areas. Curry has covered wars around the globe, and has reported on conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry (born on November 19, 1956 in the city of Agana) was an American TV anchor, reporter and journalist. Curry was perhaps most well-known as a correspondent on the Today Show, a daily morning news show broadcast by National Broadcasting Co. Curry is famous for reporting catastrophes caused by natural or human causes, especially in countries who have been ravaged by conflicts. Curry was born in Japan, and educated by her Japanese mom. Her father served as a U.S. Navy sailor. The couple met when her father was stationed in Japan after World War II. Her father was active in the army and her family had to move around a lot. They ultimately arrived in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. Her graduation with a journalist diploma from the University of Oregon in 1978. There is a possibility that her experiences with different cultures as well as her life events shaped her approach to empathy she speaks about global problems. They moved frequently, so Curry was not confined to the same school for over two years. Her travels took her to many locations such as San Diego Alameda Oregon and Virginia. Ashland was her last high school. In Medford where she began her broadcast career as a KTVL Channel 10 intern. at the age of 22, she became the station's first female news reporter. Later, she moved into the position of anchor as well as reporter at KGW which was an NBC station in Portland, Oregan. Four years later she moved to Los Angeles as a reporter for KCBS-TV. She won 2 Emmy Awards during the six years she spent with this station.
